This event was double trouble… or, should I say, double precious? When I was asked to photograph this Baptism/first birthday party, I knew I was in for a delight.
The ceremony was held at Emmanuel Church in Killingworth, Connecticut. This historic church is one of the oldest in the state, and its austere beauty is breathtaking in its simplicity. Ashley and Victor chose to decorate the space with baby’s breath and soft pastels which emphasized the purity of the day. And Sheridan was such a lovely bundle of joy the entire time! Her white classic gown made her look like an absolute cherub. Her attitude and demeanor was perfect the whole ceremony. I don’t remember one little fuss or cry from her the whole day, even when we approached nap time!
Friends and family from near and far— some from as far as Ireland!— came to celebrate this little one. The group portrait after the ceremony show just how much she is loved! Mom Ashley and Dad Victor look so dapper on the front steps of the church, and grandpa’s face glows with pride as he looks on at his granddaughter. (Seriously, I have the best career ever: I love capturing these priceless, unforgettable moments, that I know my families will cherish for years to come)
But, let’s talk about the after-party. Friends and family relaxed on cozy outdoor furniture at Ashley and Victors’ home in Killingworth, before moving on to the second main event: the food! The gilded chiavari chairs under the bright white tent lended themselves to an understated elegance. The vintage patterned china was unique and gorgeous, and the pink outbuilding also made for a whimsical backdrop to the event. We enjoyed the wonderful late summer weather with wonderful hors d’oeuvres, wine, and a glass of champagne to toast the birthday girl! Happy first birthday, Sheridan Elise!
