Mark Twain famously— or is it infamously?!— said “If you don’t like the weather in New England, wait a few minutes.” I think this aphorism undeniably applies to my time with the Bailey family! We had to reschedule twice due to weather, and we eventually just decided to brave the cold weather. Though we may have been late in the season, we were still able to steal some final moments among the fall foliage. Chris and Danielle picked a beautiful location that I surprisingly haven’t been to before and cannot wait to try it out again at the beginning of the next fall season.
We decided to begin the lifestyle session at home so we could have some quality time with the dogs. (As a new puppy momma myself, families with dogs are quickly becoming one of my favorite groups to photograph!) I simply adore the image of Beckett and his best pal staring out the window together. And look how patient they are as their big brother pets and hugs them! Beckett also decided to read us a story… with just a little help from dad. While at home we, naturally, had to have a quick dance lesson from Beckett in his room. The kid has some serious moves!
After some time at home, we trekked out to the gorgeous University of Connecticut Arbor Gardens. This 93 acre sanctuary was established over a hundred years ago and advertises itself as the perfect place to “unwind and unplug”: and that’s just what we decided to do! The changing leaves amongst the lush gardens brought out this family’s playful side: I absolutely love the moments between Beckett, Danielle and Chris. Perhaps unsurprisingly (I hinted at this with the Mark Twain quote), we had to duck into the Arboretum because rain clouds threatened overhead! Still, the Baileys were able to pose for some perfect family portraits that I hope they will treasure for years to come!
